The Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has set its sights on a clean sweep during the 2027 general elections, declaring that the ruling party will leave no room for the opposition in the state.
This ambitious target was locked down on Sunday during a high-level strategic meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Abakaliki. The gathering brought together the State Working Committee and key power brokers, including federal lawmakers, state legislators, local government chairmen, and candidates slated to fly the party’s flag in the upcoming polls.
Setting the tone for the engagement, the state chairman of the party, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, emphasized the necessity of a united front. He challenged stakeholders across the various senatorial districts, federal constituencies, and state constituencies to drop individual differences and work in tight synergy, making it clear that conceding even a single seat to the opposition is not an option.
Weighing in on the directive, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, who represents Ebonyi North, alongside the member representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah, assured the leadership that all candidates are fully prepared to close ranks. They stressed that collaboration with grassroots stakeholders remains the master key to achieving total victory.
On the local government front, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria in the state, Hon. Helen Aduga, pledged the absolute backing of all council chairmen. Speaking on behalf of her colleagues, she expressed deep appreciation to Governor Francis Nwifuru and the party hierarchy for the platform provided during the recent council elections. Aduga promised that the chairmen would repay that trust by mobilizing massive grassroot support to ensure the party triumphs across all tiers of government in 2027.
This renewed push underscores the ruling party’s determination to tighten its grip on the political landscape of Ebonyi State ahead of the next electoral cycle.
