“It’s not a prank” — Bimbo Ademoye’s heartbreak over Alex Ekubo

Zoyols News

The weight of losing a loved one or a close colleague rarely sets in immediately, and for Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye, the reality of Alex Ekubo’s passing is still incredibly difficult to process. Three days after the devastating news broke, the actress took to her Instagram page to express the profound sense of disbelief that many in the industry are currently feeling. She confessed that even after 72 hours, she is still struggling to accept that this isn’t just a cruel prank or a bad dream.

In an emotional tribute, Ademoye fondly recalled the playful banter that defined their relationship on and off camera. She shared a glimpse of Ekubo’s vibrant personality, remembering how he would jokingly threaten to use his traditional titles to turn her into a yam if she crossed him. It is these lighthearted, everyday moments that she admits she will miss the most. Describing him as a force of nature, she bade farewell to the late actor, noting that his absence leaves a void that will undeniably be felt across the entire entertainment landscape.

Amidst navigating this heavy grief, the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards winner has also been in the spotlight recently for setting boundaries regarding her personal life. Responding to critics who often question why she rarely goes out, Ademoye explained that she is naturally a homebody. She revealed that she prefers the comfort of her own space and the company of her family, where she feels most loved and pampered, rather than constantly being in the public eye.

However, her fierce love for her inner circle means she doesn’t hesitate to defend them when necessary. The actress recently went public to call out a scammer who allegedly targeted her sister and friend. Protective of her family, especially her nephew, Ademoye made it clear that she has no tolerance for anyone attempting to exploit her loved ones and vowed to ensure the situation is handled appropriately.

This protective nature seems to stem from past betrayals, which the actress has been quite open about. She previously shared a bitter experience involving a former close friend who harbored deep-seated jealousy toward her acting career. According to Ademoye, this individual constantly tried to compete with her and outdo her achievements. The toxicity escalated after Ademoye cut ties, leading the ex-friend to create fake social media accounts to troll her, manipulate her boyfriend at the time, and even attempt to strike up a romantic relationship with her ex.

Dealing with public scrutiny and online negativity appears to be an ongoing battle for the movie star. She recently found herself addressing critics who accused her of staging fake giveaways on her platform. Refusing to let the insults slide, Ademoye firmly stated that she will not tolerate disrespect from anyone. She pointed out that she has quietly given away millions of naira over the years without seeking public validation, reminding her followers that while she tries to give back, it is simply impossible to satisfy everyone.
