Katsina Suspends Ex Aide Over Alleged Kidnap Case

Zoyols News

The Katsina State Government has announced the suspension of a former Senior Special Assistant on Community Development, Nura Aliyu Garwa, following his alleged connection to a kidnapping syndicate involving the abduction of an eight year old boy in Katsina metropolis.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued in Katsina on Monday by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr Bala Salisu Zango, who said the action was taken in line with the state government’s stance on accountability and public trust.

According to the statement, Aliyu Garwa had earlier been suspended from office over allegations linked to the diversion of empowerment items meant for communities in Batsari Local Government Area under the state Community Development Programme.

The government further explained that the former aide later indicated interest in contesting a seat in the Katsina State House of Assembly to represent Batsari Constituency before his alleged involvement in the kidnapping case resurfaced.

He is among suspects said to be connected to the abduction of a young boy at Sardauna Estate in the Katsina metropolis, a case that has already seen several arrests and public parade of suspects by the Katsina State Police Command.

Governor Dikko Radda described the situation as deeply unfortunate, especially considering the suspect’s previous role in public service and community development efforts.

He also commended the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their continued efforts in tackling criminal activities across the state.

The governor called on residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security operatives with timely and reliable information that could help prevent crime and improve safety across communities.
