Kebbi Communities in Disarray as Fierce Windstorm Levels Homes

Zoyols News

A powerful windstorm has swept through several communities in the Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, leaving a trail of destruction that has displaced many and ruined properties worth millions of naira. The disaster, which struck late Wednesday night, tore through neighborhoods including Sambera, Jeroki, Becinga, Nassarawa, Tunga Soja, Tauken Mage, Tunga Muminu Oro, and Ciwan Wanzam.

The force of the storm was enough to collapse residential buildings and dismantle food storage facilities, wiping out essential supplies for many families. Despite the extensive damage to homes and valuables, residents on the ground have confirmed that no lives were lost in the incident—a small mercy in the face of such overwhelming loss.

Reports gathered that Faruku Abubakar Maisudan, the lawmaker representing Suru Constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly, has already visited the scene to assess the damage firsthand. During his tour of the affected areas, Maisudan offered words of comfort to those who lost their homes, urging them to stay resilient while describing the disaster as a trial from the Almighty.

The lawmaker has committed to bringing the plight of the victims before the State House of Assembly and Governor Nasir Idris. He assured the displaced residents that he would work closely with the executive arm to ensure that emergency relief and financial support reach the affected communities without any bureaucratic delays.

Accompanying the lawmaker on this assessment tour were officials from the Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency. These officials have begun documenting the scale of the destruction and promised a swift intervention. A representative from the agency noted that the state government is already organizing relief materials to help cushion the immediate hardship faced by the victims as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding their lives.
