Lagos Foodie Fest Recap: A Decent Taste of Detty December

Zoyols Blog

Lagos truly came alive on December 17 and 18, 2025, as the Foodie in Lagos Festival took over Encourage Park in Ikoyi. For two days, the vibrant open-air venue was transformed into the ultimate end-of-year sanctuary, blending the best of Nigerian culinary arts with a high-energy lifestyle experience that defined the season’s “Detty December” spirit.

The festival was far more than just a place to grab a meal; it was a carefully curated journey through 53 diverse brands. Attendees upwards of 3,000 across the weekend found themselves spoiled for choice, navigating a maze of Nigerian classics, gourmet grills, contemporary fusion, and decadent desserts. The layout was designed for connection, with communal seating areas that allowed friends and families to linger over their plates while soaking in the atmosphere.

While the food was undoubtedly the headline act, the entertainment schedule kept the energy soaring. DJ Slymn and Guest DJ Lolahstic provided a non-stop soundtrack, while live band performances added a soulful, laid-back touch to the afternoons. The event was expertly managed by hosts Deji Osikoya and MC Obinna, with Oludamee capturing the glamour of the red carpet. By nightfall, the venue pulsed with the excitement of DJ battles and live artist performances that turned the park into a full-blown celebration.

A major highlight of this edition was the Christmas Village, a collaboration with Tinsel Town that ensured the festival was a hit for all ages. Far from being an afterthought, the kids’ zone featured everything from cookie decorating and bead-making to an Elf Play House Theatre. Parents were even treated to pamper sessions by Dermaspace, making it one of the most inclusive and family-friendly outings on the Lagos holiday calendar.

The success of the weekend was bolstered by a heavy-hitting lineup of partners, including Jameson, Flutterwave, Desperados, and Nestlé Pure Life, among others. For the organizers, this event was a milestone a decade in the making. Since its founding in 2013, the platform has evolved from a digital dining guide into a powerful cultural voice capable of bringing the city’s food community together in the real world.

The festival’s impact even resonated internationally, earning a spot on the prestigious 2025 holiday lineup. For those who missed the festivities at Encourage Park, the journey continues online through the brand’s digital channels, where highlights of the two-day feast are currently being shared with a global audience.
