Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has openly questioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, following the inclusion of the Allied Peoples Movement in the newly formed Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State.
Speaking during a regional town hall gathering in Enugu, Governor Makinde expressed astonishment after watching the FCT Minister unveil the political alliance, noting his surprise at hearing the party’s name listed among the participants. The governor utilized the platform to address broader political tensions, calling attention to what he described as deliberate moves by the ruling party to weaken opposition structures ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.
The governor did not hold back in criticizing the ruling administration, accusing them of resorting to disruptive tactics such as pulling down campaign posters and frustrating opposition rallies. Despite these hurdles, he maintained an optimistic stance, asserting that no amount of intimidation or financial pressure could sway the electorate. He emphasized that the true strength of his camp lies in winning the genuine trust and hearts of ordinary citizens rather than relying on political maneuvering.
