The Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Alkali, has issued a passionate appeal to his fellow statesmen and Nigerians across the country, urging them to embrace unity and mutual assistance as critical ingredients for addressing social needs and achieving truly sustainable development.
The Minister made this timely call during an engagement with the Tangale East Progressive Union (TEPU) from his home state of Gombe, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja.
Senator Alkali acknowledged that the fundamental responsibility of government is to provide welfare and security for its citizens. However, he emphasized that when people are constructively engaged, social problems naturally diminish. Leveraging his position in government, he pledged his determination to continue making personal contributions aimed at enhancing the welfare of his constituents.
The Minister spoke highly of the Gombe people, describing them as a great community whose culture is deeply interwoven, transcending both religious and other individual differences.
He specifically commended the TEPU for their unwavering commitment to supporting one another and their vital role as peacekeepers within the state. “Gombe State is one of the peaceful states in Nigeria; thus, we must strive to uphold it, and the people’s entrepreneurial nature needs to be supported,” he declared, pledging his continuous support for the Union.

Earlier in the meeting, the Chairman of the Tangale East Progressive Union (Abuja branch), Dr. Jarida Haruna Doji, explained that the primary reason for the visit was to convey their appreciation to the Minister.
Dr. Doji lauded Senator Alkali for his continuous contributions and unwavering support to society, noting that his consistent kindness and dedication to fostering an inclusive environment are genuinely commendable. He stressed that these qualities have had a tangible, positive impact on the lives of community members and the wider society.
He fondly recalled the Minister’s consistent willingness to connect with them whenever they reached out, describing his accessibility as truly remarkable. “We would like to use this medium to express our sincere gratitude for your support and kindness,” Dr. Doji said.
He concluded by reaffirming the Union’s deep commitment to building upon a solid foundation of unity and oneness, and stressed their total support for what they described as the Minister’s giant strides in public service.
