The quiet community of Ilara-Mokin in the Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State was recently thrown into a state of panic following the sudden disappearance of Olatunde Funke, a 42-year-old married woman. What began as a frantic search for a potentially abducted victim ended in a surprising discovery miles away, leaving family members and local residents in disbelief.
Investigations by Reports revealed that Funke’s husband originally raised the alarm after she vanished from their matrimonial home without a word. Given the current security climate, the immediate assumption was that she had fallen prey to kidnappers or suffered some other misfortune. This prompted an intensive search operation and the mobilization of security resources to track her down.
The mystery took a turn when intelligence led security operatives to a motel in Ugbe-Akoko, a town in the Akoko North-East Local Government Area. Interestingly, the location where she was found is roughly 124 kilometers away from her home—a journey that typically takes nearly three hours by road. Upon arrival, officers discovered Funke in the company of a 55-year-old man identified as Isa Alaba.
According to details shared with Zoyols News by sources familiar with the incident, the discovery has sparked considerable outrage. The abrupt nature of her departure and the circumstances under which she was found suggest that her disappearance was a deliberate act rather than a criminal abduction.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, expressed concern over the unnecessary strain such cases place on law enforcement. Abayomi pointed out that while the police remain committed to responding to every distress call, it is frustrating when resources intended for real crimes are diverted to domestic situations that could have been handled through simple communication.
