As the Lenten season begins, the wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has reached out to the Christian faithful with a heartfelt call to embrace the core teachings of Jesus Christ. In a message shared to mark Ash Wednesday, she urged believers to use this period as a genuine opportunity for spiritual reflection and to align their lives more closely with the divine.
Mrs. Soludo pointed out that Ash Wednesday serves as the gateway to a very solemn time of prayer and atonement. She noted that for every Christian, these weeks leading up to Easter should be about more than just tradition; they should be a deliberate preparation of the heart for the resurrection of Christ.
The Governor’s wife also touched on the deeper meaning of the season, reminding everyone of how fleeting life can be. She encouraged people to move through the next 39 days with a sense of purpose, letting go of long-standing grudges and bitterness. In her view, the real essence of the fast is found in laying down the “swords of enmity” and choosing to live out the true image of Christ for the betterment of society.
Beyond individual devotion, Mrs. Soludo expressed her hope that this season would bring healing to homes and neighborhoods. She offered prayers that families and various communities would find a way to grow in unity, harmony, and peace, ensuring that the spirit of Lent translates into lasting love for one another.
