Nigerian filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele has opened up about the dedication and discipline behind her success in the entertainment industry, sharing the personal habits and mindset that helped shape her career. The movie star explained that her rise to prominence did not happen suddenly but was built through patience, learning, and constant self-improvement.

In a message shared on her social media page, she spoke about how her career journey required continuous prayer, learning from mistakes, and making deliberate decisions to change strategies whenever necessary. She explained that success came from repeatedly evaluating her plans and executing new approaches when needed. According to her, this approach helped make her movie project, Behind The Scenes, a reality. She also expressed appreciation to those who supported her vision, including her fans, whom she affectionately called her FANmily. She promised to continue sharing African stories with passion and authenticity, saying she wants her work to represent real cultural experiences and emotions.

Recognition of her achievements has continued to follow her recent success. The National Film and Video Censors Board recently honoured the actress in celebration of her contributions and record-breaking achievements in the Nigerian film industry. Speaking after receiving the recognition, she said the award was a reminder of the importance of consistency and dedication. She dedicated the honour to other creatives who continue to dream big despite challenges, encouraging them to remain focused on their goals while believing in their creative vision.

Funke also shared a memorable moment involving Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, revealing that he had watched her movie Behind The Scenes. She said experiences like that motivate her to stay committed to her craft, because she believes quality work will eventually speak for itself in unexpected places.

The actress recently had a royal audience with the Emir of Ilorin, HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, during a courtesy visit attended by other entertainment personalities including Cute Abiola, Funmi Awelewa, and Erekere. She described the visit as emotionally meaningful and thanked the monarch for the warm reception given to them during the meeting.

Her 2025 cinema release, Behind The Scenes, also achieved remarkable commercial success, grossing over N2.1 billion within a month of release. She described the achievement as evidence of God’s favour while also thanking her supporters for helping make the milestone possible. The record-breaking performance further strengthened her position as one of the leading figures in Nigerian cinema.

Last year, Funke celebrated 27 years in the movie industry, reflecting on how her career has evolved over time. She credited her longevity to hard work, discipline, and divine favour. Speaking to younger creatives, she admitted that her path to success was not always smooth but encouraged them to remain focused on their dreams. She expressed pride in coming from a background of hard work and hustle, saying the experience helped shape her determination.

She also shared her personal philosophy on growth, explaining that each new project pushes her outside her comfort zone. According to her, true progress comes from persistence, focus, and continuous effort. She encouraged young creatives to remain consistent in their work while staying patient during the process of building long-term success.
