Nigeria Takes Centre Stage in Global Energy Security

Zoyols News

Nigeria is positioning itself as a central player in global energy security, according to Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe.

Speaking at the Middle East Energy 2026 Leadership Summit in Dubai, Tegbe said the country’s power sector reforms under the Electricity Act 2023 have created 37 emerging electricity markets and ended the old federal monopoly.

He noted that Nigeria’s vast gas reserves and reliable LNG supply to Europe and Asia place it at the heart of energy geopolitics rather than on the sidelines, offering lessons for other developing nations on building resilient energy systems.
