Zoyols News reports that the agency asked the public to take care and secure loose objects, as strong winds may come before rain where thunderstorms are likely. It warned that prolonged rain over southern coastal areas could bring flash floods.
Motorists were told not to drive or wade through floodwaters and to avoid travelling in heavy rain. People were also advised to unplug electrical appliances and stay away from tall trees, which can drop branches or fall.
Airline operators were urged to get airport-specific forecasts from the agency before planning flights. The public was asked to follow official weather updates and check www.nimet.gov.ng for more information.
