The Nigerian film industry came together in a somber and moving gathering on Thursday to honor the life of the late actress and producer, Allwell Ademola. Colleagues and friends converged for a special prayer and Service of Songs, marking the beginning of the final farewell for the talented filmmaker who passed away on December 27 following a heart attack at her home.

The atmosphere was thick with emotion as some of the biggest names in Nollywood arrived to pay their respects. Spotted at the venue were prominent figures such as Odunlade Adekola, Iyabo Ojo, Saheed Balogun, Bolaji Amusan, and Fathia Williams, all appearing deeply affected by the loss of a woman many described as a pillar in the industry.

One of the most touching moments of the evening came during a tribute by Rotimi Salami, a very close friend of the deceased. Struggling to hold back tears, Salami made a heartfelt plea to everyone present and those watching from afar. He urged anyone who might have felt wronged by Allwell during her lifetime to find it in their hearts to forgive her, asking instead that they focus on her legacy and keep her memory alive through prayers.

The evening did not end with the service, as it transitioned into a candlelight procession where the stars marched in honor of their departed colleague. This was followed by an Artistes’ Night, a session dedicated to celebrating her creative contributions through music and spoken word, which lasted late into the night.

Allwell Ademola, who was 49 at the time of her passing, was widely respected not just for her acting and production skills, but also for her talent as a singer. Her sudden departure has triggered a massive wave of tributes across social media, with fans and peers alike expressing shock at the loss of such a vibrant soul.

As the final rites conclude, her remains will be laid to rest on Friday at the Atan Cemetery in Yaba, Lagos. It is expected to be another emotional day for the entertainment community as they bid a final goodbye to one of their own.
