North Korea has strongly condemned recent US plans to sell tactical missiles worth about $125 million to South Korea, describing the move as a threat to regional security.
Pyongyang said it will not overlook Washington’s decision and vowed a strong response to what it called American hostility.
The US State Department approved the possible sale of AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles and related equipment to Seoul. North Korea’s foreign ministry also criticized Washington’s plan to fund programmes aimed at documenting human rights abuses and increasing the flow of outside information into the North.
It accused the United States of attempting to challenge Pyongyang’s control over information and warned that the arms sale would worsen tensions in the region.
