High Chief Martin Nwabueze, popularly known as Ichie Akubudike, has been selected as the 2026 Man of the Year by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council.
He takes over from Anambra State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arc. Okey Ezeobi, who received the honour last year.
The award comes as the union marks its 35th anniversary. The grand finale of the event, which also includes the Coral Anniversary celebration, holds on September 10 at Anabelle Event Centre in Awka.
Nwabueze, a businessman with interests in construction and oil and gas, was recognised for his contributions to society. He is currently sponsoring the Akubudike Anambra State football league for the second year running.
Governor Charles Soludo, his deputy, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the Chief Judge, and other top government officials are expected at the ceremony.
