Police in Florida have pointed to rapper Lil Tjay as the spark behind the confrontation that ended with fellow artist Offset being shot. According to a probable cause affidavit, the incident unfolded around 7:22 pm on Monday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood.
Investigators say Lil Tjay “directed members of his party to start a fight with another group of males,” which included Offset. Security footage reviewed by detectives reportedly shows Lil Tjay stepping out of his vehicle, gesturing toward Offset, and then walking his group over to him.
Things quickly escalated. During the brawl, one of the people with Lil Tjay allegedly pulled a firearm and shot Offset, leaving him injured. The rapper was taken to a nearby hospital, where he’s now recuperating. He was even photographed outside on a stretcher having a cigarette as he continues his recovery.
Lil Tjay was arrested in the aftermath and booked on a misdemeanour charge of disorderly conduct‑affray before being released the next day. While in custody, he was recorded calling Offset a “rat,” adding fuel to an already tense situation.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are piecing together the full chain of events, but for now, police believe Lil Tjay’s actions set off a sequence that led to one of hip hop’s most talked‑about incidents in recent weeks.
