Zoyols News

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has praised the successful rescue of the abducted Oriire schoolchildren and their teachers, describing the operation as a clear reflection of the courage, professionalism and commitment of Nigeria’s security agencies to protecting lives across the country.

The revered monarch also applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing strong leadership throughout the rescue efforts. He equally acknowledged the support and contributions of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, in ensuring the victims were safely reunited with their families.

Speaking through a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Moses Olafare, the Ooni described the release of the pupils and their teachers after spending about 56 days in captivity as a moment of great relief for their families. He said the outcome highlights the Federal Government’s determination, alongside the dedication of the nation’s security agencies, to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians.

Oba Ogunwusi commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force and every other security outfit involved in the operation. According to him, the rescue mission showcased remarkable bravery, discipline and professionalism.

He also congratulated the parents, guardians and loved ones of the rescued children and teachers, noting that their safe return has finally brought an end to weeks of fear, uncertainty and emotional distress.

According to the monarch, the successful rescue demonstrates what is possible when government institutions, security agencies and local communities work together with a shared sense of purpose.

He praised President Tinubu, the Oyo State Government and the security personnel who took part in the operation, saying their determination and unwavering commitment made it possible for the innocent children and their teachers to return home safely.

The Ooni added that the operation has renewed public confidence in the country’s security institutions and reinforced the importance of collective efforts in tackling Nigeria’s security challenges.

He, however, urged security agencies and relevant authorities to sustain the momentum by strengthening measures that will prevent similar incidents, particularly in schools and other vulnerable communities across the country.

Oba Ogunwusi also stressed the importance of improving intelligence gathering, deepening community participation and promoting closer collaboration between security agencies and traditional institutions as part of ongoing efforts to build a safer and more secure Nigeria.
