Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Monday took his re election campaign to Ikire, the hometown of All Progressives Congress governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji, where he appealed to residents to support his bid for another term in office ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking during a campaign rally in Ikire, the administrative headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area, Adeleke reminded the crowd of his longstanding connection with the community, noting that he attended Nawairudeen Grammar School in the town.
The governor recalled the support he received from Ikire residents during the 2022 governorship election and urged them to once again back his candidacy. He said his administration has worked diligently with the mandate entrusted to it and deserves another opportunity to continue its programmes.
According to Adeleke, he returned to the town to seek renewed support based on the performance of his government and the projects executed since assuming office.
He also encouraged eligible voters to come out in large numbers on election day and exercise their civic rights peacefully. The governor urged residents not to be discouraged or intimidated by threats of violence, assuring them that democracy thrives when citizens vote freely.
Before addressing supporters at the rally, Adeleke commissioned a newly completed road project in the community. He said his administration has continued to execute infrastructure projects across Osun State without considering political differences, maintaining that development should reach every community regardless of party affiliation.
The governor stated that the benefits of good governance belong to all residents of the state and should never be determined by political loyalty.
He was joined at the campaign event by the Chairman of the Imole Campaign Council, Prof. Wale Oladipo, Osun State Peoples Democratic Party Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, Osun Accord Party Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, Chairman of the Campaign Media Committee, Hon. Bamidele Sallam, as well as other party leaders and supporters.
Ahead of the rally, Adeleke paid a courtesy visit to the Akire of Ikire, where the traditional ruler offered prayers and blessings for the governor and his re election campaign.
