Fuji icon Saheed Osupa has opened up about his use of traditional spiritual practices, insisting that his involvement in juju is meant to fuel personal success, not cause harm.
Speaking at the 52nd anniversary celebration of veteran actor Fatai Odua, Osupa addressed critics who have suggested he distance himself from such beliefs. “Someone once asked me to give an interview denying that I’m a fetish person, but I told him the truth. I didn’t harm anyone with my juju. I’m only seeking ways to progress. Nothing more,” he said.
Osupa described his spiritual routine as a daily source of strength. “Every morning, I pay obeisance to my Ifa. Everybody practices voodoo in some way. While some do it behind closed doors, I do mine openly. The idea that I rely only on the Bible or Quran is false,” he added.
Clips from the celebration also captured Osupa advising his backup performers to embrace similar practices to boost stage performance and memory, emphasizing that such rituals are not harmful when approached with the right intentions.
His remarks have sparked discussions online, reigniting debates about tradition, spirituality, and how public figures navigate cultural beliefs within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
