Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the forthcoming Osun State election, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Oyebanji on his re-election, describing the outcome as a strong reflection of public confidence in his leadership.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier declared Oyebanji winner of the election after he secured the highest number of valid votes and met all constitutional requirements. He reportedly polled 319,224 votes, defeating his closest challengers, as the Peoples Democratic Party secured 40,533 votes while the African Democratic Congress recorded 12,872 votes.
Reacting to the result, Oyebamiji, in a statement released shortly after the announcement, said the overwhelming victory clearly showed that the people of Ekiti State appreciated the governor’s performance and developmental efforts since assuming office.
He noted that the outcome also highlighted the strength of the All Progressives Congress in the region, adding that the party’s growing acceptance would likely influence the upcoming political contests in neighbouring states.
Oyebamiji expressed confidence that the APC would replicate the same success in the Osun governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026, describing the Ekiti result as a clear signal of what to expect.
He also congratulated the people of Ekiti State and members of the party for what he called a well deserved victory, commending the governor for his leadership style and commitment to development.
In his words, he said, “I warmly congratulate my brother and friend, His Excellency Abiodun Oyebanji, on his re-election victory.
The successful poll and our party’s victory are clear testimonies to the wide acceptance of the APC, the visible transformation under the governor, and the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“I sincerely celebrate the good people of Ekiti State and all party members for this landslide victory. I am confident that the governor will continue to build on these achievements and further move the state forward.”
He added that the outcome of the Ekiti election had further strengthened the confidence of the APC ahead of the Osun governorship race, expressing optimism that the party would emerge victorious.
