Pete Edochie’s Son, Leo, Breaks Silence on Death Rumors

zoyolsblog

Leo Edochie, son of legendary Nollywood actor Pete Edochie, has finally addressed circulating rumors about his father’s death.

The false reports began when a social media user on X claimed that Pete Edochie had passed away, alleging that the actor himself confirmed it on Instagram. Taking to his own Instagram page, Leo quickly shut down the rumors, assuring fans that his father is alive, healthy, and thriving.

“I have been receiving calls, text messages, and WhatsApp messages about some nonsense people posted, claiming that my father, Pete Edochie, is dead. It’s a lie from the pit of hell. Our father is not just alive but hale and healthy. If you’re wishing someone dead, the person will live very long, or you’ll die before him,” Leo said.

Fans flooded the comments with relief and disbelief. One wrote, “Thank God, my mind is at rest now.” Another added, “Ahh, thank God. I have been so disturbed and praying. Ogadagidi is hearty. God, I’m so happy.” Others criticized those spreading false news, with one fan stating, “It’s unfortunate how some stupid people spread false news. More life and outstanding health to our living legend.”

Pete Edochie is not the only veteran actor to face such rumors. Recently, Chiwetalu Agu put to rest reports of his death with a video of himself enjoying life—eating chicken and sipping wine—declaring that he would live fully until God calls him home. Similarly, Kanayo O. Kanayo once condemned those who printed fake obituaries about him, emphasizing that access to social media doesn’t justify spreading lies.

Veteran actress Rita Edochie also criticized the constant wave of death rumors targeting actors, calling the trend “madness” and highlighting how it has caused more harm than good. She stressed that one does not need to grow a social media page at the expense of spreading false news about innocent people.

Even in 2024, when Oba K Solo falsely alleged the death of a veteran actor, the family had to release a video showing him getting a haircut, alive and well, to prove the claim wrong.

For Pete Edochie, the message is clear: he is alive, strong, and healthy. Those wishing him harm will only witness his long life and continued legacy in Nollywood.
