Plateau State Government has clarified that the ₦10.11 billion reported as travel and transportation spending between January and June was not incurred by Governor Caleb Mutfwang or the Government House.
The figure, according to the state, covers total travel and transport expenses across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies, tertiary institutions, the Judiciary, and the Plateau State House of Assembly.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the government said the amount covered statutory obligations including personnel entitlements, training programmes, and activities of the state’s Muslim and Christian Pilgrims Welfare Boards.
Other major components included overseas training for lecturers of Plateau State University, judiciary-related travels, expenses by the State House of Assembly, medical assistance for citizens abroad, and the sponsorship of 200 students on scholarship to India.
Ramnap added that Governor Mutfwang made only three international trips during the period — to the United States in January for the Presidential Prayer Breakfast, and two trips to the United Kingdom in March and June for official engagements linked to President Tinubu’s delegation and a multi-faith coexistence dialogue.
She noted that the trips were used to pursue partnerships and investment opportunities in tourism and other key sectors for the state.
The government said it remains committed to transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources, and will continue to provide accurate information on its expenditures.
