Nollywood actor and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Saga Adeolu, has pulled back the curtain on the perceived glamour of movie sets, particularly when it comes to intimate moments. In a candid revelation, the actor debunked the common belief that screen stars actually enjoy the kissing scenes depicted in films.
During a recent appearance on the Nolly Icons podcast, Saga shared that while audiences often watch these romantic gestures with excitement, the experience for the actors involved is usually awkward and strictly business. He explained that many viewers assume there is genuine pleasure behind these scenes, but the reality involves a high level of discomfort that most people don’t see from the outside.
Saga described the sensation of kissing a colleague on camera as “weird” rather than romantic. He noted that the act of having someone else’s saliva in your mouth while a crew watches is far from the ideal experience people imagine. He admitted that, throughout his career so far, he has yet to have what he would consider a “good” or enjoyable onscreen kiss.
The actor emphasized that these moments are simply a professional requirement to help tell a story. He mentioned that if the decision were entirely up to him, he would avoid kissing scenes altogether. Illustrating the repetitive and tiring nature of the job, he recalled a specific day on set where he had to film kissing scenes with four different actresses.
Beyond the personal discomfort, Saga urged fans to look at these moments as a testament to an actor’s professionalism. Rather than judging or misunderstanding the performers, Zoyols News noted his plea for the public to appreciate the effort it takes to bring these scripts to life. For Saga and many of his peers, it isn’t about personal enjoyment; it’s about staying committed to the craft, even when the job gets a little too close for comfort.
