In a significant move to boost local livelihoods, the Senator representing Lagos West, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, has equipped over 1,000 residents with essential vocational tools and financial support. The massive distribution took place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, during a colorful stakeholders’ engagement held at the Blue Roof Pavilion in Ikeja, where the Senator reaffirmed her dedication to the economic well-being of her constituents.

The empowerment package was diverse, ranging from small commercial buses, popularly known as Korope, to complete sewing machines and catering equipment. Other beneficiaries walked away with laptops, hair dryers, makeup kits, and barbing clippers paired with generators. Beyond the physical tools, several constituents received cash grants of ₦200,000 each to provide much-needed capital for their small businesses. The initiative was specifically designed to align with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Senator Adebule shared that the programme had been carefully planned to ensure long-term success. Before receiving the items, the beneficiaries underwent intensive training in six key sectors: ICT, catering, tailoring, barbing, hairdressing, and cosmetology. While the event was originally slated for December, the Senator explained that the brief delay into the new year was unavoidable, but it allowed the team to make this edition “bigger and better” than any previous effort.

The event also served as an accountability forum where Adebule detailed her legislative progress since June 2023. She revealed a busy scorecard that includes sponsoring or co-sponsoring 18 bills and successfully moving two major motions in the Senate. Her impact is also visible on the ground through the construction of primary healthcare centres in Ojo and Ifako Ijaiye, a youth development centre in Badagry, and the installation of over 1,000 solar streetlights across the district.

High-profile guests, including Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (popularly known as Yayi), were in attendance to witness the distribution. Senator Yayi, whose arrival was met with a standing ovation, praised Adebule’s commitment to her people, rating her performance at an impressive 90 percent based on her tangible results in the district.

Religious and community leaders also lent their voices to the occasion. The Chief Imam of Ikeja, Sheikh Kamorudeen Adeola Illo, and Bishop Stephen Adegbite of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission both lauded the Senator for her “giving back” spirit. They urged the beneficiaries to treat the equipment as a seed for their future, using them to build self-reliance and contribute to the economic growth of Lagos West.
