Former lawmaker Sam Onuigbo has urged All Progressives Congress members to set aside personal ambitions and rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. Speaking at the flag-off of Tinubu’s second-term campaign in Abia State, Onuigbo said the president deserves full support to consolidate the reforms he has already started.
He noted that the administration’s bold steps, especially the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the exchange rate, have significantly increased revenue available to federal, state and local governments. According to him, monthly FAAC allocations have risen sharply, giving states more resources for development projects.
Onuigbo also highlighted improvements in the oil sector, claiming that Nigeria’s refining capacity and crude oil production have increased considerably. He added that foreign reserves have grown substantially and foreign direct investment inflows have improved due to the administration’s policies.
The former representative praised Tinubu’s appointments and projects in the South-East, including the creation of the South-East Development Commission, new tertiary institutions, and the ongoing construction of a Federal Secretariat in Abia State. He said these moves reflect the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance.
Onuigbo warned APC stakeholders against allowing personal political interests to derail the party’s main goal of returning Tinubu to office in 2027, describing the president’s second term as more important than individual ambitions.
