Bola Tinubu hosted state governors for a Ramadan Iftar dinner at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, creating another moment of political and religious unity at Aso Rock Presidential Villa. The evening gathering brought together top government officials, governors, and senior political figures to break the fast together during the holy month.
The annual event, now a regular feature of the presidency’s Ramadan activities, has continued for three consecutive years. This year’s dinner saw a strong turnout from across the country, with governors, deputy governors, and senior government officials sharing the spiritual and social moment with the President. The gathering also served as an opportunity for informal political dialogue and relationship building among Nigeria’s leadership class.
Among the state governors present were Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Monday Okpebholo, Usman Ododo, and Babagana Zulum. Others included Inuwa Yahaya, Ahmed Aliyu, Sheriff Oborevwori, and Mohammed Bago. Also present were Umar Namadi, Abdullahi Sule, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and Agbu Kefas, along with the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State.
The gathering also included key federal officials such as Vice President Kashim Shettima and Femi Gbajabiamila, who currently serves as Chief of Staff to the President. Several ministers were also part of the dinner, reflecting the administration’s focus on maintaining close working relationships across different levels of government.
The Iftar tradition has become a recurring part of the President’s Ramadan engagements, where he uses the gathering to promote national unity and encourage leaders to prioritize the welfare of citizens. During a similar gathering in 2025, he urged officials to intensify efforts toward improving living conditions, emphasizing that leadership should remain people-centered. He also reminded political leaders that Nigerians, regardless of ethnic or religious background, share a common national identity and should be treated as one family living under one roof.
More similar Iftar gatherings with traditional rulers, senior government officials, and members of the diplomatic community are expected to continue throughout the Ramadan period.
