Popular media personality Toke Makinwa is clearly embracing her new chapter with confidence, recently taking to social media to show off her postpartum physique. The mother of one, who welcomed her daughter in August, shared stunning photos of herself in a sleek black dress, playfully reminding her followers that she remains a “hot mother” even after childbirth. The post immediately drew a wave of admiration from fans and colleagues alike, with stars like Chidi Mokeme, Mercy Eke, and Denola Grey flooding her comments with support.
For the former OAP, 2025 stands out as her most transformative year yet. Welcoming her daughter, Yakira Eliana, at the age of 40 was the fulfillment of a deeply personal goal. On a recent episode of her podcast, Toke was moved to tears as she recalled praying for a child before reaching that milestone. In what she describes as a divine answer to her petitions, she discovered she was pregnant just one month after her 40th birthday.
The journey hasn’t been without its hurdles, particularly the shift from her once-active social life to the quiet reality of pregnancy and early motherhood. Toke admitted toReports that she spent much of the past year indoors, a significant change for someone who thrives on being out and about. She has also been remarkably open about the less glamorous sides of motherhood, including her frustrations with breastfeeding. She candidly shared that traditional remedies like pap and various teas hadn’t done much to boost her supply, admitting that the pressure was starting to weigh on her mental health.
Her current happiness feels especially poignant given the public challenges she faced in the past. Many will recall her high-profile marriage to fitness expert Maje Ayinde, which ended in 2016 following reports of infidelity. Reflecting on that period, Toke opened up about the trauma of being blamed for the breakdown of the union, despite being the victim of the circumstances. She noted how painful it was to have strangers project their own versions of her life onto her while she was navigating such a difficult time.
Today, however, the narrative has shifted toward healing and celebration. Toke’s journey to becoming a mother serves as a powerful testament to her resilience and patience. As she balances the demands of her career with the joys of raising Yakira, she continues to prove that she is entering her forties with more strength and grace than ever before.
