Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has announced a shift in how she wishes to be addressed, marking what she describes as a deeply personal and spiritual transition in her life. The actress, who once proudly carried the nickname “King Tonto,” says she is moving away from the title as part of what she calls spiritual realignment and personal growth.
Dikeh first adopted the popular title in 2018, shortly after her separation from her former husband, Olakunle Churchill. At that time, she publicly shared the change with her followers on social media, even posting a photograph of her voter’s card showing her updated name. She described the moment as a step toward personal greatness, saying the name reflected the confidence and direction she wanted for that phase of her life.
Now, about eight years later, the actress says her journey has taken a new spiritual direction. In recent months, she has spoken more openly about her faith and personal transformation, which also coincided with reports of reconciliation with her former partner. Speaking in a video posted online and referenced by Zoyols, she explained that the decision to drop the title was not sudden but came as a result of what she described as divine guidance.
She shared that the decision felt meaningful because it was announced on the first day of March, which she connected to spiritual symbolism in her life. According to her, she believes the moment reflects a new season and a shift away from her past identity into what she described as fresh promises and purpose. She emphasized that she would no longer want to be addressed as King Tonto Dikeh, explaining that the change was in line with what she believes to be divine direction.
Going forward, she said she is comfortable being addressed by several other names, including Woman of God, Evangelist Tonto, Tonto Dikeh, Aunty Tonto, or simply Big T. She encouraged fans and colleagues to use any of those names, but made it clear that the “King Tonto” identity was no longer part of her public persona. She added that she believes this decision reflects obedience to what she described as spiritual instruction guiding her life path.
The actress also expressed appreciation to her supporters who have followed her journey over the years. She described her life story as one of transformation, saying her experiences have turned what once felt like personal struggles into a meaningful message of growth and resilience shared with her audience.
