Tragedy as Nigerian Doctor Dies Shortly After Delivering Triplets

Zoyols News

The medical community and the Sintei family have been thrown into deep mourning following the tragic passing of Dr. Ogbachi, a dedicated gynecologist who lost her life shortly after welcoming a set of triplets. The heartbreaking news has sent shockwaves through Yenagoa, as colleagues and loved ones grapple with the loss of a woman who spent her career saving others.

Dr. Ogbachi, a 38-year-old registrar at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH), had just celebrated the birth of her first children—two girls and a boy. While the delivery at NDUTH in Okolobiri was initially successful, her health took a sudden and drastic turn for the worse. The complications became so severe that she had to be rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa for emergency intervention.

In an emotional tribute shared on social media, her brother, Meshack Sintei, detailed the harrowing final moments. He described the family’s helplessness as they watched the medical team battle to save her. He recalled the chilling sight of the monitors in the ICU showing her oxygen levels plummeting from 70 to 50, and eventually hitting zero. Despite the best efforts of the specialists on duty, Dr. Ogbachi breathed her last at exactly 2:45 am on April 14, 2026.

Beyond her role as a physician, Dr. Ogbachi was a wife and a proud alumna of Niger Delta University. As a member of the Nigerian Medical Association, she was well-respected by her peers for her professionalism and commitment to her patients. Her brother described her as a true fighter, lamenting that her passing feels like the loss of an entire generation within their family.

While the Sintei family continues to process this devastating blow, they have expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support from friends and the public. At the time of this report, the management of the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident. Meanwhile, the three newborns are reported to be alive, leaving behind a bittersweet legacy for a mother who never got the chance to raise the children she waited so long to welcome.
