The campaign team of Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar has firmly dismissed reports suggesting that his supporters have aligned themselves with Mohammed Abubakar, the APC candidate in the upcoming 2027 Bauchi governorship election. These claims, circulated widely, are deemed false by the organizers of Tuggar’s campaign, who emphasize that they do not reflect his stance or any official position of his supporters.
In a clear statement issued by Alkasim Abdulkadir, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to Tuggar, it was made evident that individuals claiming to speak on behalf of Tuggar’s supporters had no authorization to do so. These persons openly admitted they were not speaking for the former foreign affairs minister, nor did they hold any mandate to make political declarations in his name. The campaign organization stressed that the assertions indicating a shift in loyalty following the APC primary process are baseless and do not represent the genuine sentiments of Tuggar’s supporters.
The organisation further challenged the legitimacy of the primary process in Bauchi State, asserting that there was no valid APC governorship primary election conducted there. They criticized the so-called consensus process, describing it as neither transparent nor inclusive. According to them, the process lacked the necessary broad consultations and was not rooted in voluntary agreement among all aspirants and key stakeholders within the party. Such a procedure, they argued, falls short of the standards of internal party democracy.
Ambassador Tuggar’s campaign reaffirmed his commitment to the principles enshrined in the APC constitution and the rule of law. They emphasized that his support base spans across all 20 local government areas in Bauchi State and cannot be represented or defined by a few individuals making unverified claims. The campaign organization urged media outlets to exercise caution and verify claims before publishing, urging that only official statements from the Tuggar Campaign Organisation accurately reflect his position.
This clarification comes at a time when political tensions are heightening within Bauchi’s party circles, underscoring Tuggar’s firm stance on maintaining integrity and transparency in the electoral process.
