The Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, has paid tribute to the late revered evangelist, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, describing him as a steadfast preacher of the gospel and a man whose faith remained unshaken through the decades.
In a statement he personally signed, Umahi said he received the news of Rev. Ukpai’s passing with deep sorrow, noting that his death has created a painful void within Christendom.
“I received with profound sadness the passing of the Founder and President of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who departed this world on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80,” he said.
He described the late preacher as a devoted servant of God whose inspiring sermons helped shape the faith and spiritual journey of countless Christians across the world. Umahi praised Ukpai’s lifelong dedication to spreading the gospel, saying his ministry embodied resilience, conviction, and a passion for truth.
“He shall forever be remembered for his tireless devotion to the word of God. Even until his final moments, he remained steadfast in proclaiming the message of salvation,” Umahi added.
The Works Minister extended heartfelt sympathy to the Ukpai family and the global Christian community, urging them to take comfort in the life of impact the late evangelist lived.
He concluded by conveying the condolences of his family and the entire Federal Ministry of Works, praying that God grants Rev. Ukpai’s soul eternal rest and his loved ones the strength to bear the loss.
