Veteran filmmaker Wale Adenuga has finally addressed the recent buzz surrounding the popular comedy series Papa Ajasco and Company, responding to remarks made by actor Abiodun Ayoyinka.
Reflecting on the trending video, Adenuga said, “Okay, so this guy has taken Papa Ajasco into the public space! That’s all well and good. I’m genuinely happy for him, as his strategy of leveraging social media seems to have worked for him.”
He praised Ayoyinka for his performance, describing him as “a versatile actor who has brought Papa Ajasco to life brilliantly” and noting that he bears “the closest resemblance to the cartoon version I first created on my dining table back in 1976.” Adenuga emphasized that there has never been any personal rift between them, stating, “He is very close to me, and there has been no irreconcilable difference between us.”
Addressing public reactions, Adenuga commented on the wave of misinformation and speculation following Ayoyinka’s interview. “Candidly, I feel the need to clarify the emotional commentary and uninformed narratives that have spread online,” he said.
On welfare matters, Adenuga highlighted the support Ayoyinka has received over the years. “Regarding vehicles, we provided him with a car, and Pa James as well. Over time, he has had access to at least five cars, including a Mercedes-Benz,” he revealed. “To my knowledge, he also owns a house in Ogun State.”
Adenuga explained the legal boundaries around the use of the Papa Ajasco brand, noting, “The copyright is ours to protect. He cannot use the brand for personal ventures because it’s crucial to safeguard its reputation from misuse.”
Questioning claims of financial struggle, he added, “This raises the question: why is Abiodun Ayoyinka claiming to be broke?” He clarified that actors on the show are free to pursue other work, pointing out that many cast members frequently take roles under their own names on other projects.
Sharing insights into production, Adenuga said, “Abiodun Ayoyinka and the cast are on set for only six weeks each year, during which we record enough episodes to last a full year.” He stressed that Wale Adenuga Productions operates professionally, meeting industry standards and fulfilling all financial obligations promptly.
He concluded by dismissing allegations of neglect or exploitation, asserting, “Any narrative suggesting financial abandonment by our organization is entirely false and misleading.”
