Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has strongly defended the current administration’s reform agenda, arguing that prominent opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi have no justification for seeking to unseat the president in the upcoming elections.
According to a statement shared on his social media handle, Onanuga contended that the bold economic decisions taken by the administration are steadily repositioning the country for long-term prosperity. His remarks came on the heels of public commendation from industrialist Aliko Dangote, who praised the government for its courageous moves to eliminate the fuel subsidy, unify the foreign exchange market, and foster an environment supportive of private enterprise like his mega-refinery.
Drawing from Dangote’s endorsement during a major business launch event, the presidential aide asserted that it defies logic for any serious political contender to campaign on a platform of reversing reforms that are already yielding positive outcomes. He maintained that the opposition should take a cue from key economic players who understand the necessity of these tough choices rather than advocating for policies that would take the nation backward.
