FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that President Bola Tinubu will have an easy ride to victory in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking yesterday at a media briefing, Wike described the opposition as weak and disorganized. He insisted that national elections are different from state contests, noting that the just-concluded Osun governorship race was driven by local factors that cannot be compared to a presidential contest.
Wike dismissed suggestions that the ruling party relied on federal influence in Osun. He said those making the claim do not understand real federal power, recalling how soldiers were deployed in Rivers State during the 2019 elections. He added that no such thing happened in Osun.
Looking ahead to 2027, Wike said the opposition lacks the strength and planning required to unseat an incumbent. He contrasted this with the 2023 election, which he described as tense and uncertain, and credited the current administration for allowing democratic processes to play out without interference.
