British-Nigerian actress Wunmi Mosaku has added another major milestone to her career after winning the Best Supporting Actress award at the BAFTA ceremony for her role in Sinners. The moment was even more special as she received the honour while visibly pregnant, a detail that fans and media audiences have widely celebrated online and on Zoyols Blog.

Mosaku’s victory came after she competed against strong contenders including Teyana Taylor for One Battle After Another and Emily Watson for Hamnet. The win marks her second BAFTA recognition. She first claimed a television BAFTA award in 2017 for Damilola, Our Loved Boy and later earned a film acting nomination in 2021 for her performance in His House. The latest award feels like a natural progression in a career that has steadily gained global attention.

During her acceptance speech, Mosaku delivered emotional words that quickly spread across social media. She dedicated the award to her daughter, speaking warmly about motherhood and personal growth. She described her child as her greatest teacher, adding that her life and career inspiration often circles back to family love and personal purpose.

She also reflected on her role in Sinners, explaining how playing the character Annie helped her reconnect with parts of herself she once felt were fading. Mosaku spoke about discovering emotional strength, cultural identity, and ancestral connection through the character, especially as an immigrant navigating different cultural spaces. She described the experience as deeply personal, saying the role allowed her to rediscover confidence and inner power.

Mosaku ended her speech by appreciating director Ryan Coogler, expressing gratitude for the creative environment on set. She described feeling the presence of ancestral pride and emotional support throughout the production process, a sentiment that resonated strongly with viewers following her win. The award has further strengthened her position as one of the most promising international talents in contemporary film.
