Spain have booked their place in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after securing a convincing 2 to 0 victory over France in Tuesday night’s semi final clash.
The much anticipated encounter brought together two of the tournament’s strongest teams, but it was Spain who produced the sharper display to move one step closer to lifting the trophy.
La Roja broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal confidently converted from the penalty spot. The referee pointed to the spot after young winger Lamine Yamal was brought down inside the box, giving Spain the perfect opportunity to take control of the match.
France searched for a response, but Spain remained composed and continued to dictate the pace of the game. Their dominance was rewarded again soon after the restart as Pedro Pedro finished off a well worked team move with a calm strike to double his side’s advantage.
The victory sends the reigning European champions into the World Cup final, where they will battle either Argentina or England for football’s biggest prize later this weekend.
