Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the national leadership of the Accord Party have declared their support for President Bola Tinubu as their preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The decision was confirmed by the spokesperson for the Adeleke re election campaign, Pelumi Olajengbesi, in a statement released after a meeting held on Saturday night in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
According to Olajengbesi, the meeting brought together Governor Adeleke and the party’s national leadership to deliberate on key issues affecting the Accord Party and the direction it intends to take ahead of future elections.
He explained that one of the major reasons behind the endorsement was the need to allow the current administration to complete several ongoing infrastructure projects across the country. Among the projects mentioned were the Lagos Calabar Coastal Road and the Sokoto Badagry Highway, which the party believes should be brought to completion.
The statement also revealed that the forthcoming Osun State governorship election featured prominently during the discussions. The party’s leadership called for a peaceful electoral process and cautioned against acts of violence, intimidation, election malpractice and the use of security agencies to harass or intimidate Accord Party members in the state.
In a related development, non indigenous residents from the South, as well as Benue and Plateau states who reside in Osun State, expressed their support for Governor Adeleke’s bid for another term in office. They also reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful coexistence and pledged to continue contributing to the growth and development of Osun State.
