The National Movement for Tinubu Shettima 2027, Forward Nigeria, has welcomed the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council as an important step towards preparations for the 2027 general election.
The group said the inauguration, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would provide a coordinated structure for political engagement and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the election.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, the movement’s National Chairman, Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali, said the development also reinforced the need for unity, discipline and continued attention to governance as the country moves towards another electoral cycle.
The group commended President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, as well as other party leaders and stakeholders involved in the inauguration.
According to the movement, President Tinubu’s assurance that preparations for the election would not distract his administration from its constitutional responsibilities was particularly significant.
It said the position demonstrated that governance must remain a priority even as political parties begin organising and mobilising for the 2027 elections.
The group also drew attention to the presence of political leaders from outside the APC at the event, including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Their participation, the movement said, reflected the growing importance of political engagement beyond traditional party lines and offered an opportunity for leaders with different political affiliations to interact on issues affecting the country.
It described the cross party participation as a notable example of bipartisanship that could promote national interest and strengthen political dialogue.
The movement further argued that constructive engagement among political actors could contribute to wider discussions on governance, economic development and democratic stability.
It stressed that such cooperation would not undermine the identities or legitimate positions of different political parties. Instead, it could create room for dialogue, compromise and greater understanding on issues that affect Nigeria’s long term interests.
The group said the emerging political engagement ahead of the 2027 election should be used to build stronger relationships among leaders through dialogue, accommodation and a shared commitment to the future of the country.
