2027: Nigeria Needs New Leadership, Obi Tells Tinubu

Zoyols News

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has urged President Bola Tinubu to step aside before the 2027 general election, insisting that Nigeria now needs a leader with the strength and determination to tackle the country’s growing economic and security problems.

Obi made the remarks during an interview, where he argued that the nation requires leadership with the energy and capacity to confront the many challenges facing Nigerians.

Reflecting on Tinubu’s political journey, Obi said there is a clear difference between the man who governed Lagos State and the one currently serving as president. According to him, the president has become exhausted and should be allowed to retire peacefully after his time in office.

He maintained that the country is heading in the wrong direction under the present administration, stressing that the current leadership has failed to provide the direction Nigerians deserve.

Obi further stated that President Tinubu no longer possesses the capacity needed to effectively manage the nation’s affairs, adding that it would be in the country’s best interest for him to step aside and make way for new leadership.

The former Anambra State governor also expressed deep concern over the worsening conditions across the country, pointing to rising poverty, widespread hunger and persistent insecurity. He said these issues should dominate national conversations instead of endless political debates, urging leaders and citizens alike to focus on finding practical solutions to the challenges confronting Nigeria.
