Akin Faminu and Kiky Festus Bring Culture and Couture to Their Traditional Wedding
Akin Faminu and Kiky Festus turned their traditional wedding into a memorable celebration of culture, fashion and love, with four carefully designed outfit changes styled by The Style Infidel.
Held under the hashtag HookedOnTheFaminus, the celebration featured a striking mix of traditional craftsmanship, personal storytelling and modern style. Each look had its own character, while still reflecting the couple’s cultural roots and fashionable personality.
For their first appearance, Kiky embraced a rich bronze and gold theme in a custom design by Emagine By Bukola. The textured gold brocade outfit featured ruby crystal beads, metallic embellishments and sculpted side draping that gave the look a regal finish.
The designer said the outfit was inspired by the richness of gold brocade and the graceful appearance of an Igbo bride. Kiky completed the look with a traditional red beaded crown, coral neckpiece and black ukwu fly whisk.
Akin matched her elegance in a brown velvet agbada by Deji and Kola. The outfit featured white border embroidery, ivory and coral beads, a feathered cap and a sculpted white ceremonial staff.
The couple’s second look drew inspiration from history and heritage. Kiky wore a custom outfit by Prudential, featuring a sweetheart neckline and a wrapper made from vintage Nigerian postage stamp prints. A pleated pink gele and pearl jewellery added a soft, feminine touch.
Prudent Gabriel explained that the dress was hand beaded with memories, cultural symbols and embroidered details connected to the couple’s love story. The design even included custom beadwork showing their faces.
Akin continued the vintage theme in a white tunic by Deji and Kola, paired with a structured red, green and yellow George skirt. He completed the outfit with a carved dark walking stick and a vintage pink tasselled umbrella.
Their third outfit change brought a bold royal touch. Kiky appeared in a deep purple off the shoulder gown by Nichole Stylish, decorated with teal and coral geometric appliques across the bodice and skirt.
Akin complemented her in a royal purple agbada by Ugo Monye. He wore it over a bright orange tunic with traditional Igbo graphic embroidery and layered coral necklaces.
For the after party, the newlyweds moved into a more modern pop art inspired style. Kiky wore another custom Emagine By Bukola creation, a fitted corset mini dress covered in striking fashion magazine imagery.
Rather than simply copying magazine covers, the designer said the concept was to make Kiky appear as though she was wearing an entire fashion archive, with images, headlines and editorial details celebrating famous figures such as Rihanna and Zendaya.
Akin completed their contemporary look in a graphic button down shirt by Deji and Kola, styled with dark wide leg trousers, white contrast stitching, rectangular sunglasses and light coloured boots.
