Amstel Malta Hails Oshoala After Falcons’ WAFCON Win

Zoyols News

Amstel Malta has applauded the Super Falcons for their determined 1 to 0 victory over Zambia at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, while also celebrating its brand ambassador, Asisat Oshoala, whose early goal secured the crucial win for Nigeria.

The victory marked an important turnaround for the Super Falcons after their disappointing opening defeat to Malawi and revived their pursuit of an unprecedented 11th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.

Oshoala made the difference just eight minutes into the encounter, calmly converting a well crafted assist to hand Nigeria the lead. The Super Falcons then produced a disciplined and resilient display to protect their advantage despite being reduced to 10 players following the dismissal of defender Oluwatosin Demehin.

The hard fought result not only strengthened Nigeria’s hopes of progressing to the knockout stage but also reflected the determination and fighting spirit that have become synonymous with the country’s most successful women’s football team.

Reacting to the performance, Amstel Malta’s Senior Brand Manager, Francis Obiajulu, praised the team’s resilience and commended Oshoala for delivering when it mattered most.

He said the company was delighted to see its brand ambassador score the winning goal, adding that Oshoala continues to represent the qualities of excellence, determination and leadership that define the Amstel Malta brand.

Obiajulu also noted that the team’s response to adversity perfectly captured the message behind the company’s “Be Your Best” campaign, which was launched to encourage Nigerians to stand firmly behind the Super Falcons throughout their WAFCON journey.

According to him, the campaign was built on the belief that true champions are measured not by setbacks but by their ability to recover from difficult moments. He added that the team’s disciplined display against a strong Zambian side, even after being reduced to 10 players, demonstrated the courage, resilience and winning mentality expected of champions.

He reaffirmed Amstel Malta’s continued support for the Super Falcons as they push to keep their title ambitions alive at the tournament.
