The All Progressives Congress has released its timetable and schedule of activities for primary elections ahead of the 2026 legislative bye elections and elections into four State House of Assembly constituencies recently restored by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The party said the decision followed INEC’s restoration of four previously suppressed constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, creating the need for fresh primaries to select APC candidates for the affected seats.
The restored constituencies are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II in Delta State, alongside Yagba West II in Kogi State.
In a notice sent to its state chapters, the APC also announced plans to hold primaries for candidates seeking to contest the 2026 legislative bye elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.
The constituencies affected by the bye elections include Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State, Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi State, Udu State Constituency in Delta State and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State.
The party directed its chapters in the affected states to strictly follow the approved timetable and guidelines throughout the nomination and primary election process.
According to the APC, the schedule is intended to provide a clear framework for the selection of candidates who will represent the party in both the restored constituencies and the upcoming legislative bye elections.
The party also urged aspirants, members, state chapters and other stakeholders in the affected areas to comply with the stipulated timelines and ensure that the exercise is conducted in line with its guidelines.
The development comes as political parties begin preparations for the 2026 legislative contests, following INEC’s decision to restore the four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states.
Zoyols News reports that the APC’s timetable is expected to set the process in motion for interested aspirants seeking the party’s ticket ahead of the forthcoming elections.
