Jamal Musiala has told supporters he is living with a neurological condition after collapsing on the pitch for a second time in three days. The 23-year-old Bayern Munich midfielder and Germany international went down minutes after coming off the bench in Tuesday’s pre-season friendly at Heidenheim, days after a similar scare in Saturday’s home win over RB Leipzig.
At Heidenheim he looked dazed while staff treated him, then needed help to leave the field. Later he posted that doctors had found brief, temporary absences that are treatable and come from a neurological dysfunction. Those spells, he said, can produce the moments seen against Leipzig and again in Heidenheim. They may look frightening at first, he added, but for now they are simply part of his everyday life.
He thanked people for the messages and support, said he is getting the best care available, and sounded optimistic. After the match, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl confirmed the club already knew about the situation and that Musiala would speak soon.
Saturday’s collapse came in fierce heat in Munich, with temperatures well above 30C, and he needed medical help then as well. Musiala missed the first half of last season after breaking an ankle at the Club World Cup, returned later in the campaign, and featured for Germany at the 2026 World Cup.
The player has chosen to speak openly so the recent incidents are understood rather than left to rumour.
