Major General Idris Warrah, Theatre Commander of Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s resolve to step up its campaign against banditry in the North West. Warrah made it clear that the military’s mission is focused and uncompromising. He said the Army is not out to negotiate or appease criminal groups but to confront them with strength, discipline and precision. According to him, every effort will be made to eliminate threats and secure communities that have suffered from repeated attacks.
He reminded the soldiers that their success depends on strict adherence to orders, professionalism and mental readiness. He urged them to maintain aggression in operations and remain committed to carrying out sustained offensives until stability is fully restored.
The commander, joined by Major General Ibikunle Ajose, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, acknowledged the efforts of troops who have neutralised threats, reclaimed territories and seized weapons from criminal elements. He encouraged them to intensify their push, noting that the responsibility of protecting lives and ensuring safety rests heavily on the Armed Forces.
Warrah assured the troops that the Army remains attentive to their welfare, particularly those who have been injured in battle. He said wounded personnel will continue to receive proper medical care and support, and he extended the appreciation of military leadership to their families.
During his visit to the 248 Recce Battalion in Illela, he inspected facilities and acknowledged improvements while urging continued upgrades to support ongoing operations. He reminded soldiers that discipline, resilience and adherence to military ethics are the foundation of the Nigerian Army.
