Mikel Arteta has agreed a new contract extension with Arsenal, extending his stay at the club after leading the Gunners to the Premier League title in the 2025/26 season.
The Spaniard’s previous agreement was due to expire at the end of the current season, but talks over a fresh deal had been ongoing for several months before the two sides finally reached an agreement.
The new contract is expected to keep Arteta at Arsenal until at least 2030, meaning his time in north London could stretch into his second decade at the club after taking charge in December 2019.
The new agreement is also expected to come with a significant improvement in his salary, reflecting his achievements since taking over as Arsenal manager.
Arteta had earlier indicated that supporters had little reason to worry about his future, making it clear that he wanted to remain at the club.
Speaking about the situation recently, he said he was very happy at Arsenal and grateful to be working with the people around him.
The new contract marks another important step in Arsenal’s efforts to maintain continuity under Arteta following the club’s first Premier League title in 22 years.
