Zoyols News

Nigerian music star Burna Boy has etched his name into history after becoming the first African artiste to claim the number one position on the Billboard Global 200 Songs chart.

The landmark achievement came through his FIFA World Cup collaboration, Dai Dai, featuring Colombian singer Shakira. The song climbed to the top of this week’s Billboard Global 200 rankings, marking another major international success for the Grammy Award winner.

The impressive run did not stop there. Dai Dai also secured the number one spot on the Billboard Global 200 Excluding U.S. chart, while continuing to gain momentum in the American market. On the Billboard Hot 100, the song jumped 12 places to reach a new career high of number 55.

The latest chart success further highlights Burna Boy’s growing influence on the global music scene, as he continues to break barriers and expand the reach of Afrobeats beyond Africa.

Fellow Nigerian singer Tems also enjoyed another strong week on the charts. Her hit single, What You Need, climbed five places to a new peak of number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 after spending 15 weeks on the chart.

The song has also enjoyed remarkable success on radio, reaching the number one position on both the Billboard Mainstream R and B Hip Hop Airplay chart and the Mediabase Urban Radio Airplay chart.

With the achievement, Tems became the first African solo artiste to top both of those radio charts, adding another historic milestone to her rapidly growing international career.
