Chelsea have completed the signing of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa in a blockbuster deal worth a reported £117 million, making it one of the biggest transfers in the club’s history.
The Blues secured the services of the highly rated forward ahead of several interested clubs, including London rivals Arsenal, before agreeing a long term contract that will keep the 23 year old at Stamford Bridge until 2033.
Chelsea confirmed the signing through the club’s official channels, announcing that Rogers will join the squad ahead of the 2026 and 2027 season as part of the club’s ambitious plans under new manager Xabi Alonso.
The England international returned from the United States on Tuesday to complete his medical examination in London before putting pen to paper on a six year contract, which also includes the option of an additional year.
Reacting to the move, Rogers expressed his delight at joining Chelsea, describing the club as the biggest in London and one he has admired since childhood. He said he is excited to become part of the team’s new project under Alonso, adding that the quality within the squad and the club’s vision for the future made the decision an easy one. He also said he is eager to begin training with his new teammates and help the club achieve its goals.
Chelsea also paid tribute to their latest signing, describing Rogers as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young attacking players. The club praised his rapid development during his time at Aston Villa, where he recorded 40 goal contributions in 85 league appearances while playing a key role in helping the Midlands side secure a top four finish before lifting the UEFA Europa League trophy last season.
His impressive performances at club level also earned him a regular place in the England national team. Since making his senior debut in November 2024, Rogers has gone on to win 22 international caps and represented the Three Lions at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With the deal now completed, Chelsea believe the arrival of Rogers further strengthens their attacking options as they prepare for the new campaign and continue building a squad capable of challenging for major honours both in England and across Europe.
