The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Sokoto State, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has called for urgent action over reports that residents of several communities in Danchadi District of Bodinga Local Government Area have been forced to flee their homes due to insecurity.
Dan’iya, in a statement issued through his media aide, Aminu Abdullahi, described the reported displacement as a serious humanitarian concern and said it reflects the urgent need for stronger efforts to improve security and protect vulnerable communities across the state.
He said reports from the affected area suggest that many residents have abandoned their communities as a result of persistent security threats, warning that the situation could have damaging consequences for Sokoto’s social and economic wellbeing if left unchecked.
According to him, the development highlights the need for authorities at all levels to adopt a more proactive and coordinated response to the security challenges confronting the state.
“It is deeply troubling that communities are reportedly being displaced while many families continue to live in fear. The protection of lives and property remains the foremost constitutional responsibility of government, and every effort must be made to restore confidence among our people,” Dan’iya said.
He called for improved intelligence gathering, stronger collaboration among security agencies and closer cooperation with local communities as well as traditional institutions to reinforce ongoing security efforts.
Dan’iya also urged both the Federal Government and the Sokoto State Government to step up security operations in the affected areas, provide adequate logistical support for security personnel and strengthen measures aimed at safeguarding vulnerable communities.
He further appealed for urgent humanitarian support for those displaced, warning that prolonged insecurity could disrupt agriculture, trade, education and other key sectors that sustain rural livelihoods.
The ADC governorship candidate also encouraged residents to continue sharing credible information with security agencies to support efforts aimed at restoring safety across the state.
“Our people deserve to live in peace and pursue their legitimate livelihoods without fear. Sokoto has enormous potential, but meaningful development cannot take place where insecurity persists. We must act decisively to restore peace and hope to our people,” he said.
Dan’iya also prayed for lasting peace in Sokoto State and expressed hope that displaced residents would return safely to their communities.
