Davido Shares Why He’s Stepped Away from the Club Scene

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has opened up about stepping back from the nightlife that once defined his early career. The singer revealed that maturity, family responsibilities, and the simple joys of rest have taken precedence over the party-filled days of his youth.

In a candid conversation on The LongForm Podcast on YouTube, Davido reflected on how fame, wealth, and influence at a young age drew him into a whirlwind of club nights and high-energy parties. “That freedom, power, and money at that young age… I used to wild out,” he said. “These days, I don’t even go to the club. Back then, it was like a ritual—we were going somewhere to be.”

Yet, the singer says those days are long behind him. He described how even during extended stays in Nigeria, he now finds joy in quiet, low-key moments at home. “I was just in Nigeria for almost two months. I didn’t go out. I stayed at home, and honestly, I was having fun,” he shared.

Davido explained that his current routine revolves around studio sessions, relaxing at home, and small gatherings with close friends. “I go to my studio, chill, maybe have someone come barbecue… that’s fun to me. Before I know it, it’s 3:30 or 4 a.m., just relaxing at home,” he said.

Family has also become central to his day-to-day life. The singer described his new lifestyle as “boring” but deeply fulfilling. “I call my wife, I fall asleep on FaceTime… like, it’s boring stuff, bro, but it’s real life,” he admitted.

Even with this shift toward a quieter life, Davido emphasized that he still switches into full performance mode when work demands it. “When it’s time to party, record music, or perform a show, I get active,” he said. “But in regular life, anytime I have the chance to sleep, I rush and take it.”
