The naira is changing hands at different prices against the United States dollar on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, with the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market and the parallel market still some distance apart.
Latest figures show the local currency firmed to N1,327.78 per dollar at the NFEM on Tuesday, after closing at N1,329.80 on Monday. That is a day-to-day gain of N2.02. On the street, the dollar was quoted around N1,389 on Tuesday, a shade weaker than the N1,390 seen a day earlier. The spread between the official window and the parallel selling rate therefore sits close to N61.22.
At about N1,389, a buyer looking for $100 would need roughly N138,900, while $1,000 would run to about N1.389 million. What any person or firm actually pays still depends on the dealer, the city, how large the deal is, and how tight the market feels at that moment.
The naira has been holding near the N1,300 mark at the official window while the Central Bank of Nigeria keeps a close watch on liquidity and policy. Zoyols News noted earlier this month that the currency had stayed relatively steady, helped by central bank dollar sales and quieter import demand.
For Wednesday, the last confirmed numbers remain N1,327.78 at the NFEM and about N1,389 on the parallel market. Those quotes can still move as buyers and sellers adjust through the day.
